2011 Review

While I haven't been the most prolific blogger over the past couple of months, I thought I should at the very least get an end of year post up.

2011 was the year I decided to pick up my paint brushes and get back in front of the easel. I think it really all started with my upholstery class which began in January, after a few short weeks I had completed a drop-in stool and quickly moved on to a more challenging project (two Parker Knoll arm chairs - still in progress!).

I soon found that once the creative juices had started flowing again the flood gates opened and I wanted to start painting again. In July, I spent my weekends visiting local artists through Cambridge Open Studios which gave me the final kick of inspiration to get my paint brushes out.

2011 may not have been quite as productive as I'd have liked but it has certainly been a massive step in the right direction.I finished my first painting in years, started two more and set up my blog.

As well as the paintings I've made lavender filled hearts and orange marmalade for Christmas presents (I think last year was home-made chocolates!).

Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to read visit my blog in 2011, I look forward to sharing future work and news in 2012.

Happy New Year!

Christmas Wreath

Last year I made my own Christmas wreath from natural materials gathered from around the local park.  I did feel a bit naughty pruning the dog wood and taking clippings from the bushes but I was responsible and didn't cause any damage. I also kept the hoop that I made out of the dog wood stems to re-use as the base of my wreath for this year.

Here is the wreath for Christmas 2011, with prunings from the garden and some berries from the local park. Once the I've finished with it I'll hang out for the birds before stripping it back ready for next year.
